- Small holes can be fixed using wood putty. Wood putty can be bought in several different colors to match the floor.
- In case of bamboo planks that are not stuck properly, pop up then get an adhesive kit and after drilling small holes into the plank, infuse the adhesive, fill the space and press the bamboo floor to the subfloor to allow the adhesive to work.
Replacing Flooring Plank
What if you have taken all the precautions but still want to replace floor Planks? Even after taking all the possible care you might want to replace floor. You might have tried all the touching and cleaning but now know that it is inevitable that you go ahead and replace the individual planks.
Here are some suggestions that will help you:
- Find out what method was originally used to put the floors together, was it adhesive, nailed or the latest click it tongue and groove.
- If it was with the use of adhesive or nailed then you will be better off getting a professional to work on it for you.
- Remove the quarter-round wooden trim that you will find near the border of the floor towards the damaged planks. Then, remove the planks one by one. This is only possible on a floated floor which hasn’t used a secured installation method.

- Drill a small hole into the plank that needs replacement. Be careful that you do not reach the sub-floor.
- Chisel the plank, then split it and remove the tongue and groove connections.
- Remove all the remaining pieces with the help of a chisel. Ensure to clear the sub-floor of all the debris too.
- Take precise measurements for the replacement plank. Remove one side of the tongue and groove, insert in the empty space. Line the boards before you start cutting.
- Use the adhesive on the plank, the side that will go towards the sub-floor, position the tongue and groove and drop into place.

When you decide to use these kinds of floors, you certainly make the right decision as it comes to the user with a plethora of benefits. However, all of these benefits will be lost if the right kind of glue is not used.
Therefore, it is imperative that you buy the right glue. The right glue will enable the sticking together of the subfloor and the bamboo planks firmly and with ease. The best glue options are the ones that have urethane wood floor adhesives in them. Read the label carefully of the glue and find out if they have water-base in them. Water base is not the right adhesive for these floors.
When you select the adhesive with urethane in it, ensure that you read the instructions and ingredients well because there are a few that are specifically suited for this type of flooring only. The right amounts of adhesive will need to be bought; for instance, for 175 square feet of floor you will need approximately 4 gallons of adhesive.
