What Railings I Want in My Next Home

When you finally have the money for a dream home, you want to have all of the right details.

From the railings to the moldings, you want every corner, every room to be exactly as you envision it in your head.  That means that you need to look at an awful lot of houses before you can finally say that you found ‘the one.’
Wants and needs are a funny thing when it comes to houses.  While you might want to have a fireplace, you really need a good water heater.  And while you might want a larger master bedroom, you might need to have enough rooms for the kids.  The balance between what you want and what you need can certainly get tricky, can’t it?

Instead of beating your head against a wall, it might be a better idea to just make a list of the things that you really, really want from the dream house.  That way, at least you’ll get most of what you want, rather than being disappointed that you don’t have everything that you want.

And in time, you can always add on the things you don’t already have.  That’s the fun part anyways, isn’t it?

Creating a Focal Point of Style upon a Staircase

When buying a home, it’s easy to become fixated on the features – the number of bedrooms, the location, etc.

But when you walk into a home, you don’t see these things, you only see the decorations and the way the home is arranged.  In order to create great style, you might want to choose a home that has a focal point that will make everything stop to notice.

One of the more dramatic home additions is a spiral staircase, though they are also quite rare.  This can come down in the middle of the home and become the first thing guests see when they walk in the door.

Another common focal point is a fireplace addition.  These not only provide warmth, but they will also help to create a sitting area where guests can gather.  Even if you don’t have a chimney, you can add in an electric fireplace to give the same effect.

Choose one part of your home that you want to people to see and then decide if the home has a special piece that makes people want to stop and admire your home and your taste.  That’s the definition of style, isn’t it?
