A Christmas card is the way to bring our love and wishes of happiness and health to all people we know.A nice way to be in touch with them sending and receiving joy. Were Germans in the 15th century who started to produce Christmas cards in which it used to appear the Christ Child and a cross with an inscription saying “A good and blessed year”. It was in the 18th century when tradesmen take the custom to send Christmas cards to their customers like this they wished a happy new year and lot of happiness and assured to have good customers for long time. No much later the custom of sending cards was taken for general public.
It is thought that the first Christmas cards were made by students ofGrade- school to show their parents how much have theyhad improvedtheir writing during the last year. These Christmas cards might have been some sheets of papers with long wishes of greetings to all relatives.
When the custom of getting Christmas card was widely expanded, people used to keep them in the family book and sure that they were happy collecting them and exchanging them. The themes of Christmas cards used to have wonderful images of Christmas tress, landscapes beautifully covered with snow and of course the most popular, Santa Claus. Obviously the first Christmas cards were marvellous pieces of art.

As I said before, not till after the 1860th everyone could afford to send greetings cards.A new industry was created. The colour printing came along and thanks to John Calcott Horsley and Louis Prang (known as fathers and artists of Christmas cards) that popularized and introduced Christmas cards.
